Isn't it a relief to see the women erupt, men too, in anger?
The question that keeps popping up in my head though is, why it is happening now? I turned to wikipedia, where I came across the gruesome details I was previously unaware of. Is that it then, the gruesomeness? Or is it because the culprits are of the fruit seller-bus driver variety, with no money or connections or anymore threats to pose?

Of course, I am relieved to see people react head on- with the strongest reaction coming from young adults. Perhaps, 5 to 10 percent of this new generation are willing to put their foot down and demand their rights in full. But I don't care for these placards which read, respect the gender that gave birth to you, and such like. Our birth-giving properties is not what makes us eligible for respect. Still, these are far and in between and I think there is enough momentum this time around to (potentially) bring about significant changes in how India perceives its women.
Let it be known, upholders of Indian values, we are right and you are wrong, so wrong. We are not gonna let you get away with categorizing us into boxes of people you can and cannot rape - child, fool, virgin, lover, slut, horny bitch, nighthawk, clubber, drunkard, smoker, no one.
