Alright, alright, inane as this may all be, lets talk about all the things I wanted to do and have done so far over this vacation. Theres travelling, which seems to be happening more or less as planned, though it really doesn't involve me doing anything more than booking tickets and moving my butt around a bit. The one trip which required a bit of advanced planning I screwed up, France. I waited around forever to get the visa fixed and then ended up with no visa. Lesson learned hopefully, esp since I need to pay the school back a $1100 for a trip not made. We did do Houston, and I had fun. We went to the zoo and the aquarium and I was happy checking out the animals, though Mike didn't the like idea of a lot of them being kept in cages. I was too excited to care. We went to the Museum of Fine Arts, and I surprisingly didn't care for that. And tbh, it sorta nagged me. Because I don't think it had anything to do with the paintings themselves, but, I dunno. My feet were horrid by that point, it was sweating profusely, and it was like walking around in wet, soaking slippers. but it was more than that and I am not sure what. In retrospect, two things might have helped, being there alone and sticking to one or two rooms for most part. In the end, what I actually enjoyed about the museum was the gift shop. I got a greater kick out of thinking that I can partly possess some of these artwork with 2 dollar reproductions on postcards or magnets, than actually seeing them. Well, to be fair, the ones I bought, aren't the ones I saw at the museum, so there, bah. This one (Le Jockey, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec) is my favorite btw, though at the time, I had no idea why I bought it:
Moving on, I've booked tickets (train tickets) for Chicago and will be cooping up with H for a week. As exciting as seeing a new city may be, more than anything else, I just look forward to spending time with her. I miss her and I miss them. Though we are all very different people, talking to them is in ways like talking to myself, from a very different, parallel universe.
