Dublin: Day 3

1. Woke up at 11am, hurrah! Read out nyt headlines with a question mark, look towards Mike for reassurance (as if he can answer on behalf of the world) and appropriate human response and went from confused to apathetic in no time.

2. Lunched at Uyghur restaurant -- beef manti, samsa and lamb skewers. Samsa (flaky dough with beef filling) was nice, otherwise nothing remarkable. Interesting fusion of traditional arab/chinese music in the background.

3. Headed to Rathmines, stopped by two Made in Ireland stores, eyed some fancy looking cafes, one with an oversized golden gorilla in the window which Mike called 'gauche' and pretty churches tucked in between commerce as well.

4. Cut through St. Stephen's Green and watched seagulls walk on frozen pond.

5. Went past nice-looking red brick flats which are mostly hotels or office buildings (one said KPMG, ugh). Still, the romance of it being actual homes lives on in my imagination.

6. Stopped by at a local mall to give my hands a chance to warm up (should have worn gloves). Found a dapper hoodie jacket at Dunnes and wasted no time acquiring it.

7. Admired attractive red brick residential homes on our way to Ranelagh.

8. Spurred on by the exhilaration of my jacket acquisition, I proceeded to purchase a woolen bobbled beanie from one of the Irish stores we checked out earlier in the day.

9. Got beet, cabbage & apple slaw made with greek yogurt mayo for dinner from M&S; 'twas good, so planning to recreate it when I get back to Salem.

9. Mike got white chocolate pistachio crepe after dinner and I enjoyed watching the crepier (yes, there is a name for people who make crepes) spread the batter smoothly across the hot plate with his wooden rake. Very asmr. I told Mike the fellow is an artiste and he passed along my compliment. Since there is a wife tax, I enjoyed some of the crepe as well.
